Essential maintenance work to our computer and phone system will be carried out on Tuesday 16th November 2021 between 12.30-13.30. Please note, we will be unable to deal with telephone calls and enquires during this time. In an emergency call 999 or if you need urgent medical attention call 111.

3rd Doses of the Covid vaccine will soon be available (please note these are for immunosuppressed patients and different to the booster vacinations), however please wait until you are contacted by either your consultant or your GP Practice. We ask that you don't contact the surgery, we will update as soon as we have further information

Shortage of Blood test bottles

There is a shortage in supply of some blood test bottles which may affect taking routine samples:

 Patients will still need to wear a mask, socially distance and use hand sanitiser when attending the Surgery and our patient-facing staff will continue to wear PPE.

 

We do understand that it can be frustrating but we know that when the patients come to us they may be sick and vulnerable, and some cannot receive the Covid vaccine due to medical reasons, so we feel it would be wrong to not continue with these small precautions that can help to protect the patients and staff.

Despite recent media coverage outlining a national supply issue, everyone in Cheshire West who has already had their first dose COVID vaccine will be offered their second dose within 12 weeks. Available vaccine supply is being prioritised for this purpose.

Most vaccination services in Cheshire West started vaccinating patients in early January and it has been determined nationally that second doses should be offered as close to week eleven as possible, following first dose.

Clinics are carefully planned around confirmed vaccination delivery dates in order to minimise disruption to patients. When confirmation of the delivery date for second dose vaccines has been received your GP practice will contact you to arrange your second dose appointment.

Once we have a delivery we will contact the patients, please avoid coming to the surgery to book your appointment as we have Covid-19 measures in place. The notification of delivery can be at very short notice and the Surgery Staff are working extremely hard to ensure all clinics are fully booked.

Depending on which vaccine we receive will determine which site it will be delivered from and we will informed you at the time of booking.

We know that many people are eager to be vaccinated as soon as possible. We also understand that some patients will be concerned that they are not in the first groups for vaccination but may feel their circumstances or condition means they should be.
The decision about which order people are vaccinated in is set nationally by the Joint Committee for Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI). Your local GP practice or individual GP is not allowed to vary from that priority order and is unable to make exceptions in individual cases. Your medical consultant or local counsellors are also unable to agree a variation from the national rules.
GP practices are working together to ensure they can vaccinate patients as quickly as possible and they appreciate your support in this regard and your understanding as they progress through the groups for vaccinations as quickly as possible.

Repeat Prescriptionsmulticolour_pills

Patients on long-term medication can order repeat prescriptions in the following ways:

  • In person - drop your repeat slip in the box provided at the surgery having clearly marked the items required.
  • By post to the Surgery address.
  • By email to neston.reception@nhs.net.
  • Online - follow the link at the top of this page to complete a simple one-off registration.

Please note we cannot accept requests for repeat prescriptions over the telephone.

Most prescriptions are now sent electronically to your nominated Chemist. If you have not nominated a Pharmacy please contact the Surgery if you are on regular medications

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

48_hoursFor all prescription requests made directly to the Surgery, please allow two full working days for the prescription to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account. If your request is via the Pharmacy please leave 72 hours for processing. If you need your medication urgently please ask a receptionist for help and they will try to expedite your request but we cannot guarantee this.
